PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTE
My Character Studies are raw, collaborative performances. Each shoot begins not with a location, but with a narrative seed: the tense quiet of a psychological thriller, the grit of a neo-noir, a specific film archetype, or the raw intimacy of a relationship drama.
The process is a minimalist and improvisational collaboration, rooted in the same "space of radical trust" that I bring to the rehearsal room. With one camera and existing light, we function as a two-person cast and crew. This method is a way for actors to safely explore and work through the vulnerability of being seen, allowing us to discover the character's truth together.
We plan the wardrobe, hunt for props, and let the "lawless energy" of a location take over. We drive past the barriers, shoot what feels true, and fully immerse ourselves in the nebulous world we've created. The result is not a single portrait, but a series of psychological frames, a visual narrative from an unseen film, captured in the middle of the action.
