PLAYWRIGHT’S NOTE
As a playwright and a portrait photographer, my work lives at the intersection of the captured image and the curated self.
This two-play cycle is a direct inquiry into the silences that shape us.
As a Korean-American adoptee, I explore how memory, legacy, and identity are constructed and deconstructed through family secrets and the long echo of trauma. These plays are deeply informed by my own recent DNA discovery of family in Korea, coupled with witnessing my adoptive mother lose her own story to Alzheimer's.
Executing Producers After Us is being presented in strategic partnership with the Off-Broadway RJ Theatre Company, for their upcoming Circle Festival.
On her 21st birthday, photographer Alice Vance confronts Julian Moorehouse, the globally famous actor who vanished from her life. What begins as an intimate reunion ignites a bourbon-fueled reckoning where Alice demands the devastating truth of her origins…a truth Julian catastrophically misunderstands, forcing them to excavate a long-held secret that binds them.
A brutal and tender exploration of love and identity, After Us uniquely features live photography as a central element. The portraits Alice takes of Julian during their confrontation are transmitted, printed, and prepared in real-time, becoming the curated set for the play's final gallery scene.
A surreal journey to the NYC Theater District for the first New York City table read of my debut play, After Us, hosted by the Off-Broadway company RJ Theatre Company.
The deliberate architecture of audience perception from scene to scene. Whose side are you on? If I’ve done my job right, the answer should change every ten minutes.

The moving and tragic prequel to After Us. Before Us begins with a 2001 graduation night confrontation before plunging back to 1998. Here, Juilliard acting students Julian Moorehouse and Derek Vance forge a "chosen family of two" that deepens into a "pure and terrifying romantic love", until the ambient terror of a post-Matthew Shepard America forces a devastating pact of silence that will create the ghosts that walk the stage in After Us.
